The Netherlands, Houseboats Noorderhaven Groningen
For quite some time communal administrators of the city Groningen struggled with the question how to end direct discharge of domestic wastewater into the Noorderhaven.
Noorderhaven, situated in the heart of the old city centre and as a free harbour an unique home to over fifty houseboats.
QUA-VAC offered a tailor made but easily implemented and energy friendly solution. In a consortium with, among others, Sweco Netherlands the Noorderhaven was equipped with two vacuum sewage collection systems and all new energy supply sources for its residents.
QUA-VAC supplied lay-outs, piping diagrams, flow calculations and two fully automated submerged ejector vacuum stations. Each station provides waste water collection in a closed system by means of strategic placed suctions units equipped with 100 ft. long suctions hoses and our 63mm. Vacuflow valve.
State of the art wireless automation provides energy saving as vacuum is only generated when house boat owners empty their newly installed waste water holding tanks.
From the ejector stations collected waste water is transported to the communal sewage network making an end to pollution with domestic waste water of the city centre waters.
