Introduction
Shebara Resort is an exceptional project, located on Sheybarah Island in the breathtaking Red Sea destination. This resort aims to offer an unforgettable experience for global travelers while maintaining a strong focus on the preservation and enhancement of the island’s unique natural environment. The Vacuflow® vacuum sewerage system, forms an essential part of the resort’s wastewater infrastructure, providing an efficient solution while reducing the need for extensive underground infrastructure.
The challenge
Developing a luxury resort on an island presents unique challenges in terms of infrastructure and environmental protection. Sheybarah Island is surrounded by rich marine biodiversity, making it essential to minimize the impact of construction and infrastructure on the natural environment. At the same time, the wastewater system needed to provide reliable and efficient wastewater collection and transport across the resort.
The solution
To address these challenges, the Vacuflow® vacuum sewerage system was installed in collaboration with our local KSA Vacuflow® agent, Atlantic Supplies. The system was commissioned at the end of 2024 and provides an efficient and sustainable approach to wastewater collection and transport.
By using vacuum technology, the system reduces the amount of underground infrastructure required and offers greater flexibility in the installation of the sewerage network. This makes it particularly well suited to the unique conditions of Sheybarah Island and supports the resort’s ambition to minimize its environmental impact.
The result
The Vacuflow® system forms an integral part of Shebara Resort’s wastewater infrastructure, contributing to an efficient and environmentally responsible approach to wastewater management. Its implementation supports the resort’s broader sustainability objectives while helping to maintain the exceptional natural surroundings of the island.
Shebara Resort features 73 spectacular villas, including overwater and beachfront villas. The overwater villas are constructed from stainless steel and reflect the surrounding sea and sky, allowing them to blend harmoniously with the natural environment. Their distinctive circular design is inspired by the beauty and formations of the coral reefs.
Sustainable approach
The resort operates entirely off-grid, powered by a centralized solar farm, and uses a solar-powered desalination plant to produce fresh water. Waste is also recycled on the island, reducing the need for transportation of materials and further supporting the resort’s sustainable approach.
